LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

The original building where the Tap House is located was constructed as a pottery studio by Bill Stewart. Bill and his wife Holly own the pottery and art gallery beside the Tap House.

SOMETHING IN THE AIR

Ramona and Matt Schiefelbein moved to Waxhaw and fell in love with this town. They noticed how the community was growing with new restaurants and breweries.

A family's Vision...A growing town

Romona's sisters moved to town with their families.  Markie and Matt Henry and Meri and Lucas Graber joined the Schifelbeins here in Waxhaw. A third sister, Melissa, works as a nurse on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic here in the Charlotte area as well.

Careful Planning

With plans to retire from his career as a potter, Bill Stewart of Stewart's Gallery realized that his studio building could later be converted to a different type of commercial space.

Waxhaw's growing population created a need for more event, brewery and socializing places.  The Stewarts considered the idea of maintaining their popular art gallery while turning the pottery studio into something different.

The open space behind the Stewart's studio and shop had been used for the Waxhaw Farmer's Market.

THE BEST LAID PLANS

After a lot of careful planning and creative thinking, the Shiefelbeins, Henrys and Grabers opened the Waxhaw Tap House in May of 2020.  The family spent a lot of time together at family cookouts and barbeques, and wanted to create an atmosphere of family oriented fun for the whole town.

They decided to expand and repurpose the pottery studio into a tap room with connected outdoor spaces.  Making use of the spaces behind the building and a patio with tables in front, the atmosphere feels like you're hanging out with neighbors on the deck or in an amazing back yard.

Cornhole tournaments, a food truck, live entertainment and a firepit are points of focus outside. Inside there is a bar, high top tables, and low tables for dining, along with dart games and frequent live music events.  Stewart's Gallery, Waxhaw's favorite place to buy art and find unique gifts, is the next door neighbor.

Mission Accomplished!

Waxhaw Tap House became Waxhaw's favorite, bustling, fun place to hang out. Folks walk their dogs over, neighbors gather, people come in on motorcycles and in vehicles from out of town to enjoy the activities at Waxhaw Tap House.

You'll always find friends to socialize with around a firepit, the bar, or a game of cornhole year round, indoors and outdoors.
